ANIMATION
For my 3D animations, I have used 3DS Max and Cinema 4D. For my 2D animations, I have used Adobe Animate, Photoshop, After Effects and Premier Pro.
THE LION WHO LIVED IN THE FOREST
My brief for this project specified that I must "create a complex motion graphics sequence from concept to realisation".
The idea I chose to peruse was a short narrative story about a house cat who believes she's a lion. I grew up watching short narrative animations and fell in love with them, so was very excited to work on my own. Below are some of the individual snippets I made to be included in the final piece.
Each hand-drawn piece of animation was created using a Wacom Cintiq 16 and a mix of Abode Illustrator, Animate, Photoshop and After Effects. For most of these, I has a locked layer underneath the frames with a point of interest so I knew where to focus my character; see below for an example.
This piece was over 70 frames in length, not counting the in-betweens. The idea was to make the lioness look curious, like she was investigating a campfire.
This piece was made in order to show the still curious yet clumsy nature of a house cat. I used my own cat Luna as a model for this, and recorded her playing and falling over so that I could recreate the motion in a realistic manner.
This piece was one of the most difficult to loop due to the fact the forwards hopping motion needed to be shown. The water ripple animation was put in after the frog movement, in order to better convey the scene.
